Ian Moore
Having grown up watching submarines being built in Barrow-in-Furness, joining the Submarine Service made perfect sense to 16-year-old Ian Moore.
Starting out as a mechanical engineer, Ian had to study hard to work his way up the ranks, experiencing some pretty hairy incidents out at sea in the meantime.
When the Royal Navy decommissioned the last of the diesel submarines in 1994, Ian took redundancy and trained to become a podiatrist, which he has been practicing for the following 28 years.
