Colin Clarke

Colin Clarke
Colin Hamilton | Andy Dinsdale
Set on a path to join the Navy, Colin left school at 16-years-old having been inspired by a photo of his Uncle on the flight deck of a large warship.

After completing his training at Raleigh and Dolphin, Colin’s first role was as a Junior Sonar Operator, something he excelled at, quickly working his way up.

By the time he left the service, Colin was one of the most experienced Submarine Sonar Operators the Navy had, also working as a Senior Acoustic Analyst.

When Colin left the Service he took a role with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) leading a team helping to bring the F35 jet fighter into service and later headed up the Nucleonic Instrumentation Services Team that monitors and detects radiation.

Colin’s depth of knowledge on sonar and acoustics became very clear during our two+ hours of conversation. Listen to the snippets below to hear his story.
