Simon: What were the favourite haunts for you in your day then?

Oh crikey. So, we would go into The Mess because as a student we would save lots of money. There would be cheap alcohol or we would go to each other’s houses and then so the G and D was a popular one, the George and Dragon. We would go into there.

Of course, there was Emma’s Night Club (laughs) which was interesting.

However, because I went to College over in Portsmouth, I did spend a lot of the time over the water as well because that’s where you know a whole other half of my friendship group would be.

As a young adult, my friendships were mainly around work and other students over the water, so I probably began to spend less and less time in Gosport itself really.
