Simon: Was it hard to transition out of the Navy, out of the submarines, onto civvy street?

Hard to say really. I just got on with it. One day I was in the Navy, the next day I was not.

You get a lot of old sailors hanging around outside Naval Barracks, just waiting for another draft, but nothing coming, but by the time I came out of the Navy, I’d been to the OGU and got on this course.

And that was the transition I think for me.
