There’s only one way traffic and that’s into the submarine.

There are not any communications coming out, and once a week you would get a what you called a ‘family gram’ come in, so that’s a telegram of no more than 40 words that’s been screened by people to make sure there’s nothing bad news in there, and you get that once a week.

You open it up and your family have … you hear what’s been going on. It’s raining again in Helensburgh, things like that.
