Jim Perks – In the right place at the right time

You know, I joined up by accident, I mean literally, loved it straight away.

I was very well looked after by some key individuals early on that said, “Get off your arse, stop doing so much drinking.”

I’m not sure I took that much notice of that but I did definitely slow it down, “get your qualifications and just let the Navy know that there’s opportunity if you want to go and grab it” and my God, I’ve been lucky and all the way through this I said this and funny enough, Phil Titterton twice and others, I’ve been in the right place at the right time.

I’ve always had the jobs that I’ve wanted. I think that’s true and I’ve loved all of them, I’ve met great people in all of them.
